Knights of Columbus

Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest

OVERVIEW:

Each year the Danbury Knights of Columbus McGivney Council #29 sponsor a Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest for the three Parochial schools in Danbury, CT.

The goal of the Catholic citizenship essay contest is to give students an opportunity to define the role of the Catholic citizen in many different scenarios and to strengthen the bond between the Knights of Columbus in local schools.

This contest encourages today's youth to be more connected to their community and their faith.  The objective of this program is to involve young Catholics in grade 8 of Danbury's Catholic schools in civic discourse and instill in them religious and life-affirming values.  The essay should be approximately 500-750 words on the specific subject which changes every year.  Entrants will be judged on grammar, style, and how clearly they presented the theme.  Entries should display creativity, imagination and overall development of the topic.
